Job Summary
Responsible for completing all finishing services for press and copier work in compliance with job specifications and quality standards. Complete client’s job/project which may include drilling, stapling, glue padding, inserting, collating, laminating, cutting, folding, scoring, slitting, numbering, labeling, shrink wrapping, spiral binding, boxing, and packaging as well as assistance with mailing and/or large format projects. Provides continual care and maintenance on equipment, troubleshooting, and repairing. Serves as a member of the production team, communicates regularly with supervisors, production managers, customer service and sales.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive printed materials, perform work necessary to create finished product
- Verify job needs by reading the job ticket for information to perform correct finishing work, understand parameters, quantity, end product expectations
- Operate bindery and finishing equipment such as folders, cutters, drills, collators, booklet makers, and shrink-wrapping equipment
- Support mailing operations (inserting, tabbing, addressing) as needed
- Assist with large-format finishing and installation
- Adhere to and perform finishing work that meets/exceeds operational standards and deadlines
- Utilize equipment and hands to collate, fold and bind printed materials
- Configure cutter, saddles stitchers and folders properly for job
- Apply quality standard of finishing process to all projects/jobs
- Comply with OSHA, safety requirements, work rules and regulations
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of print/bindery experience required
- Experience with mailing equipment and/or large-format installation is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to lift 40+ lbs and stand for extended periods
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Comfortable in a fast-paced production environment
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret job tickets, instructions, production needs and company information. Ability to write simple correspondence, communicate with production team in an effective and professional manner.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply to practical situations and printing jobs.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to perform work as outlined through written and/or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems using independent thinking and problem-solving skills in standard situations.
