SHOSHANNAH Smith
Production Guru
Expectations vs Reality Manager
Got a problem? Shoshannah's already working on the solution.
With nearly two decades in the printing industry and a front-row seat at Allegra Newberg since 2012, Shoshannah is the kind of partner clients don’t just rely on — they rave about. Design, print, marketing, promotional products, signage — she owns every detail from first conversation to final delivery, always on time, always on budget, always exceptional.
Behind the scenes, Shoshannah is the engine that keeps the whole shop running. She handles estimating, manages the print and bindery workflow, coordinates supply ordering, and keeps project flow moving seamlessly from start to finish — making sure every moving part is exactly where it needs to be. When a project comes in, she engineers it from the ground up: thinking through the best materials, methods, and approach to get the highest quality result at the best possible cost. She’s not just managing jobs — she’s building the smartest path to the finish line.
And she does most of it while also being the face clients see first. From that initial conversation through job creation and delivery, Shoshannah leads the customer relationship — listening closely, sparking ideas, and translating what a client needs into a project that exceeds what they imagined. Her real superpower? She goes beyond the job. She anticipates, problem-solves, and finds solutions clients didn’t even know they needed — often extending well past the world of print. The result: clients walk away confident, satisfied, and eager to come back.
A lifelong book lover, her passion for print runs deep — the texture of paper, the artistry of design, the magic of cutting-edge technology meeting time-honored craft. Every project is a story worth telling, and she makes sure it’s told beautifully.
The story gets even better with Rocky, her husband and newest Allegra Newberg team member. These two have been each other’s people since junior high in 1991 — married since 2004, six kids deep — four adults and two teenagers still at home — three granddaughters in, and two dogs (Winchester and Chloe) who round out the crew perfectly.
MIKE Comfort
Resident Wizard of Walls and Wires
Grand Poobah of Stuff That Wasn't There Before But Is Now
Mike's design career started in 1986 at Printistry, a family-owned commercial printing company in McMinnville, Oregon — and it's been a creative journey ever since. A few years in, he took on a new challenge as branch manager and graphic designer at Printistry's newly opened Tualatin office, getting his first real taste of both management and design under one roof.
In 1995, he joined Barclay Press in Newberg as production coordinator, eventually moving into a full-time graphic design role where his passion for the craft could take center stage. When Barclay Press's design and printing operations were acquired in 2002 and relaunched as Vineyard Graphics, Mike carried his experience and creative sensibility right along with the transition. Then in 2009, when Karl and Nancy Hughes purchased Vineyard Graphics and Allegra Newberg was born, Mike was there for that new chapter too — a testament to the kind of steady, trusted presence that print shops are built around.
Mike lives in the Adobe ecosystem — Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop — though he still reaches for a pencil or pen when the mood strikes, turning out hand-lettering and illustrations the old-fashioned way. There's something about putting pen to paper that no software has quite managed to replace, and Mike knows it.
When he's not at a screen or sketchpad, you'll likely find him riding his motorcycle, paddling in his kayak or hiking — ideally with his wife.
CAITLIN Gaukroger
Calmly Detail Obsessed
Prepress Steward
Caitlin came to Newberg as a student at George Fox University, where she studied design and developed a love for visual storytelling and print media. After graduation, she built her career in catalog design, expanding her skills in graphic design, production, and art direction.
Over the years, she has worked with individuals, brands, and businesses as a freelance designer, creating custom visual solutions across print and digital media. Her work combines creative problem-solving, thoughtful craftsmanship, and nearly two decades of experience. She recently joined Allegra Newberg, where she continues to apply her design, print, and production expertise to help bring ideas to life.
In her free time, Caitlin enjoys life with her husband and three children, and their dog, Sarka. She finds joy in the simple rhythms of family life — camping trips, BBQs, gardening, baking, and slowly updating their 1980s home one project at a time.
BETHANY Duff
Finisher of Things
Maker of Perfection
Every great print job needs a grand finale. Bethany is that finale.
As Allegra Newberg’s reigning Queen of the Bindery, Bethany is the person who takes a project across the finish line — and she does it with precision, speed, and a quiet mastery that only comes from truly loving your craft. Paper cutting, folding, boxing, booklets, binding — if it needs to be finished, finalized, or made exactly right, it lands in Bethany’s hands. She operates some seriously heavy-duty machinery with the kind of calm confidence that makes it look like second nature. Because for her, it is.
Bethany has been part of the Allegra Newberg family since 2013, bringing with her a background that spans other print shops, a stint as a bank teller, and years as a stay-at-home mom — a combination that gave her equal parts technical skill, attention to detail, and the unshakeable patience required to make sure every single product leaves exactly as it should. She’ll also tell you she genuinely loves the variety — no two days in the bindery are quite the same, and that suits her just fine.
Away from the machinery, Bethany channels that same meticulous energy into something equally impressive: rag quilts. Nearly 350 of them and counting — handmade, sold, and gifted to the people she loves. When she’s not stitching something beautiful together, she’s spending time with her family, including her two boys, who we can only assume have the most impeccably finished bedroom décor of any kids in the Pacific Northwest.
Some people finish things. Bethany makes finishing an art form.
ROCKY Smith
Blank Wall Terminator
Ambassador of Allegra on the Road
If there’s a blank wall somewhere, Rocky considers it unfinished business. As Allegra Newberg’s wide format specialist, delivery driver, and outside sales ambassador, Rocky brings a rare combination of artistic instinct and get-it-done energy to everything he touches. Whether he’s rolling out a stunning wall mural, hitting the road to connect with clients, or talking through the possibilities of large-format print, Rocky makes it look effortless — though he’ll happily tell you he’s never met a challenge he didn’t want to take on.
His creative roots run deep. A self-taught artist with a lifelong passion for cartoon and comic-style illustration, Rocky spent years as a tattoo artist and owned his own shop — training grounds for precision, creativity under pressure, and reading exactly what a client wants. That same eye for detail and design now lives in every wide format project he produces. Rocky didn’t stumble into print — he followed love into it. When he joined his wife Shoshannah at Allegra Newberg, it was a natural next chapter for two people who’ve been building things together since junior high. At home, two teenage daughters are already carrying on the creative tradition — both budding artists — which means the Smith household has never once suffered from a shortage of big ideas. When he’s not working, creating art, or parenting, you’ll find him on the mat at jiu jitsu class — because apparently Rocky doesn’t do anything halfway.
Fair warning: don’t show him a bare wall unless you’re ready for ideas.
AMANDA Greene

FRANCY Haupt
Financial Zookeeper
Chaos Coordinator
Every thriving business needs someone who actually knows where the money went. Francy is that someone.
As Allegra Newberg’s Chief Penny Wrangler, Francy is the reason the numbers make sense — and she brings to it the kind of calm, exacting focus that only comes from genuinely loving what most people find terrifying. Invoices, reconciliations, ledgers, reports — if it lives in a spreadsheet, Francy doesn’t just handle it, she tames it. While the rest of the world backs slowly away from a balance sheet, she walks toward it with precision and enthusiasm, and finds a perfectly reconciled account deeply satisfying. Because she does.
Francy has been making numbers behave for Allegra Newberg since 2019, bringing with her the foundation of Bizy B’s Bookkeeping LLC — a business she built herself, which tells you everything you need to know about her drive and her commitment to doing this work the right way. She’s not just keeping the books; she’s keeping the whole financial ecosystem running with a quiet, behind-the-scenes mastery that makes messy math look clean.
Away from the ledgers, Francy trades columns and figures for her flower garden and walks with Turbo — her miniature, wirehaired dachshund and the only household member who has never once questioned the budget.
Some people manage the money. Francy makes sure it all adds up — every time.
NANCY Hughes
Nancy and her husband, Karl, started a new chapter in their lives in January 2009, when they became owners of Allegra Newberg. Nancy primarily handles personnel and other essential duties. She loves Newberg's community spirit, and has been active in the Newberg Kiwanis Club since 2010.
Nancy and Karl have two children and three grandchildren – all of whom are exceptional and very good looking, of course!
KARL Hughes
Principal Loose Ends Manager
Co-Owner
As the president of Allegra Newberg, Karl ensures that his employees have the tools they need to do an outstanding job. He loves working with the fun people on his team, and gets a lot of satisfaction from helping customers achieve what they need. He manages sales, customer relations, and a few other things.
Educated to become a physicist, Karl quickly realized he had to find a career path that would keep dinner on the table. So instead he became a software guy – for over 35 years! His days of coding involved many international adventures, and he often found himself on all sorts of escapades as he and his team found creative ways to sell their software. Throughout the years he has had many other quirky jobs before opening Allegra Newberg in January 2009. Karl has always had a knack for building things, from building computers as a child to building his own boat as an adult. He has a solid reputation as someone who can fix anything and everything.
Locally, Karl has been involved in Rotary since 2009, and was a Board Member of Chehalem Youth and Family Services (CYFS) for many years. He enjoys how Newberg is full of people who participate in charitable works and are community-minded.
