Print Production Team Member
Production Department

The Bindery Operator is responsible for completing all finishing services for digital press work in compliance with job specifications and quality standards. In addition, he or she will perform daily and weekly maintenance on all bindery equipment to ensure optimum output. This person is a vital part of the overall customer service provided and will work closely with other team members. While prior experience is not required, they must demonstrate an interest and willingness to learn, work with equipment and pay careful attention to product quality and customer service.

What you’ll be doing as a Print Production Team Member

  • Read work orders to determine instructions and specifications for machine set-up.
  • Trim sheets to size using cutting machine.
  • Set up and operate machines that perform finishing operations, such as folding, or trimming.
  • Adjust machine components according to specifications such as widths, lengths, and thickness of materials and amounts of glue, cement, or adhesive required.
  • Perform test production runs and make adjustments as necessary to ensure that completed products meet standards and specifications.
  • Read work orders and communicate with coworkers to determine machine and equipment settings and adjustments and supply and product specifications.
  • Remove and stack completed materials or products, and restock materials to be joined.
  • Maintain production or processing equipment.
  • Clean and maintain machinery, equipment, and work areas to ensure proper functioning and safe working conditions.
  • Install attachments to machines for gluing, folding, printing, or cutting.
  • Cut products to specified dimensions, using hand or power cutters.
  • Adjust guide assemblies, forming bars, and folding mechanisms according to specifications, using hand tools.
  • Measure, space, and set saw blades, cutters, and perforators, according to product specifications.
  • Measure, weigh, and count products and materials.
  • Mark and label containers, container tags, or products, using marking tools.
  • Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy.
  • Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.
  • Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter.
  • Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped.
  • Package objects for shipping.

  • Ability to stand constantly (over 2/3 of time), walk frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of time).
  • Trunk Strength- ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where we must meet hard deadlines (Time Pressure).
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Happy to work as a supportive, productive member of a team.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality and attention to workstation.

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with experience or vocational/technical certification.

 

Additional Information for the Print Production Team Member

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm
  • Weekends and holidays off
