In her piece titled, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfa.ca\/franchisecanada\/financing-your-franchise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Know Your Options When it Comes to Getting a Loan to Start Your Business<\/a>,\u201d she focuses on four funding choices: 1) family members; 2) franchisors that provide loans to franchisees; 3) organizations that nurture entrepreneurship like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.futurpreneur.ca\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Futurpreneur Canada<\/a>; and, 4) Canadian government resources including its<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ic.gc.ca\/eic\/site\/csbfp-pfpec.nsf\/eng\/Home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Canada Small Business Financing Program<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Holly Owens, director of franchise development for the Marketing &amp; Print Division of Alliance Franchise Brands, recommends the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfa.ca\/franchisecanada\/financing-your-franchise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article<\/a> for would-be entrepreneurs, \u201cbecause most people have never bought a business before and don\u2019t understand what their options are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfa.ca\/franchisecanada\/financing-your-franchise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article<\/a>, Ms. Stevens goes beyond the traditional borrowing from a bank, but it should not be overlooked when considering \u201call of the financial details.\u201d \u201cI typically start talking with franchise prospects fairly early on about making contact either with their local bank or going online and investigating what\u2019s available,\u201d says Holly.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;ve been in this industry for 40 years and have very good contacts with the Royal Bank of Canada and the Business Development Centre that\u2019s mentioned in the article. We can refer them to the right people so they&#8217;re not going in blind. They&#8217;ll be talking with people who know what they&#8217;re doing and are familiar with our business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the world of financing, the path to the dotted line isn\u2019t always a straight line.
